Facts

Stacey Larsen and Steven Potovsky sued the City of Los Angeles, in connection with the death of their 16-year-old daughter, Naomi Larsen.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff's daughter attended a gathering at Dockweiler State Beach and, as she attempted to cross Vista Del Mar, she was struck by a vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Plaintiffs sued the city, contending that the city knew of the dangers, but did nothing to fix it. Plaintiffs contended that the city knew there was a problem based on repeated incidents in the area.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied the allegations.

Result

The city agreed to settle the wrongful death action for $950,000.
