Facts
Graciela Morquecho filed suit against Janette Vengco-Dalan and the County of Los Angeles in relation to a vehicular collision that took place on November 16, 2017 in Anaheim.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Morquecho alleged that she was driving in Anaheim when Vengco-Dalan, driving a vehicle in the scope of County business, negligently made a left turn in front of her vehicle and caused a collision. Morquecho alleged that Vengco-Dalan's unsafe left turn violated Vehicle Code Section 21801(a), and that she suffered injuries as a result of the collision. Specifically, Morquecho contended that the turn was unsafe because Vengco-Dalan could not see vehicles in lane 3 due to cars stopped in lanes 1 and 2 impeding her view.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants neither admitted nor denied the allegations. A Vehicle Accident Review Committee review concluded that the collision was preventable and primarily caused by Vengco-Dalan making an unsafe left turn.
Result
The County of Los Angeles agreed to pay $475,000 to settle Morquecho's claims.
