Plaintiffs John Tor and Jill Guzman filed suit against Defendant City of Los Angeles Police Department in relation to a vehicle collision where Plaintiffs suffered injuries.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended they were driving in the carpool lane southbound on the 110 freeway in Los Angeles when a police officer lost control of her vehicle and crashed into plaintiffs' vehicle.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant admitted liability but disputed the nature and extent of injuries.

Injuries

Tor sustained a broken femur. Guzman sustained injuries to her right arm, hand and bilateral abdominal hematomas, and a cervical disc bulge.

Result

The parties agreed to settle for $2 million. The City agreed to pay $1 million to each plaintiff.
