Facts

In 2015, plaintiff Grace Murray signed up for a Hello Fresh Trial subscription, a meal delivery service owned by defendant Grocery Delivery E-Services USA, Inc. After receiving a single meal delivery, plaintiff immediately cancelled her service. However, several years later, plaintiff began receiving calls from defendant. Plaintiff filed a class action consumer-privacy complaint against defendant Grocery Delivery E-Services USA, Inc. doing business as Hello Fresh in relation to the telemarketing calls made to plaintiff.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Plaintiff contended that defendant made telemarketing calls to plaintiff without plaintiff's consent even though plaintiff's name was listed under the Do Not Call Registry List.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied plaintiff's contentions.

Result

The district court preliminary approved the class action settlement for the total amount of $14 million. According to the terms of the settlement, each class member will receive $600.
