Facts
On March 11, 2019, plaintiff was a pedestrian walking in a truck stop in Salinas. One of the defendants was operating a vehicle in the same parking lot. The other defendants were named as the driver's employer and the truck stop where our client was hit. The driver failed to notice plaintiff for lack of visibility, made a sudden U-turn, and struck them. The truck stop was liable for turning off the floodlights at night. Upon impact, plaintiff fell to the ground and sustained injuries on their face, hands, and knees.
Injuries
Plaintiff suffered abrasions to their forehead and side. They complained of pain in their right lateral pelvis, back, and legs. Laceration to their left side of the face near the eye socket, forehead, bilateral arms, and right ankle. They had bruising and abrasion along the left pelvic/hip region and left thigh. Open fracture to their right knee and possibly right ankle.
Result
The case settled for $1,668,000.
