This litigation arose from a three-vehicle collision that occurred on Oct. 30, 2018 at 6:30 a.m. Plaintiff Jane Doe was on her way to work. As she traveled northbound on Main Street near 84th Street in Los Angeles, a car driven by defendant, traveling in the same direction as plaintiff, in the lane to plaintiff's left, made a right turn into the front left side of plaintiff's vehicle. The impact pushed plaintiff's vehicle into a parked vehicle on plaintiff's right.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant negligently caused the accident. Additionally, plaintiff contended that defendant's insurance carrier breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing when it rejected plaintiff's policy limit demand of $50,000.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant disputed liability, alleging that plaintiff accelerated to prevent defendant's lane change. Defendant's insurance carrier denied breaching its duty of good faith and fair dealing.
