Facts

On May 9, 2023, Augustine Herrea, who was driving in the course and scope of his employment for The Substation, ran a red light and struck Keegan Boyse who was crossing the street in a crosswalk in Riverside County.

Injuries

Immediately following the accident, Boyse, a UC Irvine student, was treated at Riverside Community Hospital where she was diagnosed with a severe subdural hematoma, T6 vertebral fracture, C6 vertebral fracture, C7 superior facet fracture, scalp hematoma, right scapular body fracture without extension into the glenoid, a right articular olecranon fracture, left hand and wrist capitate/hamate fractures, and a traumatic wound posterior right brachium.

Result

The case settled for $1.1 million. Augustine Hererra had $100,000 with Farmers Insurance. The Substation had $1 million in coverage with CAN Insurance.
