Facts

On July 19, 1995, plaintiff Kathleen Homer, a 42-year-old shipping clerk for defendant Continental Baking Company, was terminated from her employment. In March 1995, the plaintiff began working in the shipping department and was still under the six-month probationary period of the Teamster's Collective Bargaining Agreement atthe time of her discharge. After her discharge, the plaintiff filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, retaliation, age discrimination, breach of contract, violations of the Consumer Protection Act and loss of consortium. The plaintiff voluntarily dismissed the age discrimination claim and the following claims for breach of contract, loss of consortium and violations of the Consumer Protection Act were dismissed on defendant's motion after the close of the plaintiff's case. The remaining claims for sexual harassment and retaliation were submitted to the jury.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $475,000. The defendant made an offer of $50,000.

Damages

The plaintiff asked the jury for $675,000 in damages.

Other Information

The verdict was reached approximately one year and five months after the case was filed.
