Facts

In January 2006, plaintiff Tula Bautista was standing at the corner of West 220th Street and Normandie Avenue in Torrance when defendant Richard Reznichek struck her with his car, knocking her to the ground. At the time, defendant was driving between five and 10 mph. Plaintiff sued for negligent operation of a motor vehicle resulting in her injuries. Defendant conceded liability.

Injuries

The plaintiff suffered fractured ribs and a fractured pelvis, and underwent treatment for a head injury and problems with her knee. The defendant contended that plaintiff's head and knee injuries were not connected to the accident, as they were part of a degenerative condition.
