Facts

On Nov. 18, 2005, Robert Hearne drove a motorcycle with his wife, Virginia Garcia, as a passenger. Richard Doctoroff's vehicle collided with the motorcycle, throwing Hearne and Garcia to the pavement.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiffs claimed that Doctoroff drove negligently.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Doctoroff filed a cross-complaint against Hearne for negligence.

Injuries

Garcia's injuries included left tibia and fibular fractures, neck pain, right hip pain, surgery, an intramedullary nail for the tibial fracture, and a permanent rod in her left leg. Hearne sustained a sprained ankle, multiple contusions, abrasions, and bruises.

Result

The jury awarded the plaintiffs $144,404.26.
