Surindar Sandhu hired Jafran Inc. and Rajiv Puri to represent her in a property sale. Prior to close of escrow, Sandhu executed a 1031 tax-deferred exchange, such that the sale's proceeds transferred to 1031 Advance Inc. Two weeks later, 1031 Advance Inc. declared bankruptcy and the owner of the parent company took the exchange funds. Thus, Sandhu, through trustee Marie Palter, sued Jafran Inc., Puri, broker Zephyr Real Estate, and agent Vince Cunningham.

Damages

The plaintiff requested $1 million in lost proceeds.

Result

The jury returned a defense verdict.
