Facts

Plaintiff Marc Goodell brought suit on behalf of himself and 8,000 current and former employees of defendant Doe Corp., who worked in certain field technician positions in California, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and Nebraska during specified class periods. Plaintiff alleged a failure to adequately compensate for all of the work performed.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs contended that defendants did not pay them properly with respect to undertaken assignments, including loading and unloading vehicles, time spent traveling, and activities taking place prior to work, such as gathering and stocking.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The defense contended that it adhered to its policy of compensating hourly employees for the full time spent working.

Result

The parties reached a settlement amounting to $18 million.
