Facts

Dorothea Jernigan attended the arrival of the USS Nimitz at the Naval Air Station at Coronado Island on Sept. 30, 2007, where she was hit in the head with a projectile the Navy fired as a line to shore.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Jernigan filed suit against the United States.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The U.S. contended that Jernigan had been warned she was standing in an unsafe place.

Injuries

Jernigan sustained brain damage and a bruised ear.

Result

The court rendered a verdict for the defense.
