Stanley Singleton was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Miramar Road when it was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Israel Vegaparra on Aug. 13, 2009.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Singleton filed suit against Vegaparra, alleging motor vehicle negligence.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Vegaparra admitted liability, but disputed the nature and extent of Singleton's injuries. Vegaparra contended he was only traveling 5 miles per hour when the impact occurred.

Damages

Singleton sought $9,042 in medical expenses as well as damages for pain and suffering

Injuries

Singleton claimed he suffered cervical, thoracic, and lumbar strains, as well as aggravation of a degenerative disc disease.
