Facts

Plaintiffs filed a class action suit against Kohl's, alleging that the retailer violated California's Song-Beverly Credit Card Act by asking customers to provide their ZIP codes during credit card transactions. Retailers are prohibited from asking for personally identifying information during credit card transactions.

Result

The parties settled. Kohl's agreed to provide gift cards worth about $470 to about 1,400 customers who were asked to provide their zip codes.
