Facts

Hartman sued Johnson and the owner of the vehicle, Johnson's mother. Hartman alleged that Johnson was negligent in the operation of his vehicle and that his mother was vicariously liable. Hartman claimed that Johnson was driving too fast on a traffic-heavy, congested street. She also claimed that Johnson's failure to observe the traffic caused the rear-end collision.

Johnson admitted liability.

Damages

Hartman claimed $5,000 in past medical costs and additional damages for pain and suffering.

Injuries

Hartman was brought to an emergency room with complaints of neck and shoulder pain. She was treated and released, though she continued treating with physical therapy.

Result

The parties settled for $25,000.
