Facts
A consumer class action was filed against General Mills, Inc. and Yoplait USA, Inc. ("General Mills"), makers of YoPlus branded yogurt products, accusing General Mills of falsely advertising the digestive health benefits of the products. The complaint alleged that General Mills duped consumers into paying more for YoPlus branded yogurt products because of claims that the products provided digestive health benefits other commercially available yogurts did not provide.
Result
General Mills agreed to settle the matter for $8.5 million. Consumers who purchased YoPlus branded products during the class period may be entitled to $4 for each unit purchased.
