Plaintiffs Rosa Rodriguez was driving with Maria Rodriguez as her passenger, when they were involved in a collision with defendant Barbara Parkson. Plaintiffs sued Barbara and Denise Parkson, the owner of the vehicle.

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs claimed that defendants failed to stop for a red traffic light.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants admitted liability.

Injuries

Maria claimed that she sustained injuries to her shoulder, pelvis, and lower back. She also claimed two herniated discs to her lumbar spine. It is anticipated that she will require further medical treatment in the future. Rosa sustained injuries to her neck. Defendants claimed that Maria sustained only soft tissue injuries. Defendants argued that Rosa also sustained soft tissue injuries. Defense expert testified that Maria and Rosa fully recovered by April 1, 2011.

Result

Maria Rodriguez was awarded $383,276 as follows: $83,276 past medical specials, $60,000 past pain and suffering, and $240,000 future pain and suffering. Rosa Rodriguez was awarded $36,566.
