Latoya Williams was working as a security guard for Greystone security assigned to the trucking yard at National Retail Transportation, Co. (NRT) On her third day of employement a yard goat operated by an employee of NRT struck Latoya as she was crossing the roadway.
Plaintiff suffered an avulsion injury to her leg and frontal lobe injuries.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The yard goat operator was speeding at the time of the incident and failed to look for pedestrians. The trucking yard did not have clear demarcated areas for pedestrians and created an increased risk of danger due to the layout.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Latoya Williams was a special employee of NRT and was limited to workers compensation benefits. In addition, she was responsible for failing to look where she was going.
Result
Settlement of $2.2 million.
Other Information
