Facts

In October 2003, plaintiff Maria Aceves, a clerk at defendant National Railroad Passenger Corporation, dba Amtrak, slipped and fell because of overflowing water in a Los Angeles Union Station bathroom. She returned again in 2005 until she finally left in August 2006, after alleging that her injuries never completely healed, thereby leaving her with chronic pain.
