Joseph Angeles was involved in a car accident with Vicky Hoang in San Diego on March 10, 2012. He sued Hoang.

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that as he drove an intersection, a head-on collision occurred between he and Hoang, who was trying to turn left at the intersection. Plaintiff argued that defendant was negligent because plaintiff had a green light, and defendant had a red arrow.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant argued that she made her turn when she had a green arrow, and that plaintiff sped up to make a yellow light, but got to the intersection when the light had already turned red. Defendant also claimed that plaintiff's treatment was unnecessary, and that YouTube videos showed plaintiff doing martial arts following the incident.
Settlement Discussions
Plaintiff demanded $30,000 under CCP Section 998 and the defense offered $10,000.
Damages
Plaintiff asked for past medical expenses of $18,000, and between $75,00 and $100,000 for past pain and suffering.
Injuries
Angeles suffered back, neck, and soft tissue injuries. He received chiropractic treatment and trigger point injections.
Result
The jury's verdict favored Hoang.
