Facts

Christine Cantu, 13, spent the night at her friend's house. In the morning, her friend's sister was rubbing their dog, a chow/Labrador mix on its belly. The plaintiff had spent the night frequently at her friend's house and had been in contact with the dog on numerous occasions. Her friend's sister told the plaintiff to pet the dog on its belly as she was doing because he liked it. When the plaintiff bent down to pet the dog on the belly, it jumped up and bit her on and through her nose and lower right cheek. The dog also bit her arm and index finger.
