Facts

On April 20, 20056, Aneta Blum, Lisa Watson, Diana Jones, and Lilian Bottlesen rode in a van owned by Martin Nazaretian, operated by Yellow Cab Co. and Administrative Services Cooperative Inc., and driven by Arshavir Sachmanyan. During the drive, the passengers suffered injuries. Consequently, they sued Nazaretian, Yellow Cab, and Sachmanyan.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
The plaintiffs alleged that Sachmanyan immediately accelerated before they could find their seatbelts and then suddenly braked for another car, which caused their injuries.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The defense claimed that the plaintiffs had time to buckle their seatbelts and that their failure to do so caused their injuries.

Result

Defense verdict.
