Plaintiffs Ronald Drones and James Jackson were employed by the defendant City of Los Angeles as security officers. Jackson was assigned by the city as a field training officer. Both Drones and Jackson applied for positions with the office of public safety, but their applications were rejected. Subsequently, Drones and Jackson filed suit for racial discrimination in violation of state and federal laws.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Drones and Jackson contended that they suffered discrimination and retaliation as a result of their race.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
City of Los Angeles denied all allegations and contended that it had legitimate non-discriminatory reasons for rejecting plaintiffs' applications.
Result
The jury found in favor of City of Los Angeles.
