Facts
On Jan. 11, 2007, at approximately 4:30 p.m., defendant Sergeant Josie Woolum was northbound on Bellflower Boulevard, driving in the number one lane. As Woolum headed towards the Beverly Street and Bellflower Boulevard intersection, plaintiff Rosa Tena, 47, was stopped in front of defendant's approaching car. The defendant rear-ended plaintiff's vehicle. The defendant drove a Chevrolet Tahoe and plaintiff drove a Jeep Cherokee. The plaintiff sued for motor vehicle negligence against Woolum and alleged vicarious liability against the county of Los Angeles.
Damages
The plaintiff claimed $20,370 for medical; $12,635 for future shoulder arthroscopy; $4,763 for total loss of car; and $900 in lost earnings.
Injuries
The plaintiff claimed several injuries, including injuries to her rotator cuff, shoulder, and cervical spine. The defendant disputed the extent of plaintiff's claimed injuries.
Result
The parties settled for $69,500.
