Facts
On Nov. 13, 2012, Eric Hoffman, an on-duty deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept., collided with a vehicle driven by Kevin Cronin. The collision took place on Pacific Coast Highway south of Sweet Water Mesa Road, in Malibu. Cronin and his passenger Eleanor Cronin sued Hoffman, the County of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs contended that Hoffman negligently operated his vehicle and that the other defendants were liable for his actions. They asserted causes of action for motor vehicle and general negligence.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Defendants denied plaintiffs' allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses.
Result
Plaintiffs settled with the Sheriff's Dept. for $37,500.
