Facts
On March 15, 2013, Luis Arenas was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on Union Pacific Ave., in the City of Los Angeles when his vehicle collided with a 2011 Ford truck driven by Luis Munoz, an employee of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. Arenas and his two passengers, Diego Arenas and Ofelia Arenas, brought a complaint against Munoz and LADPW for negligence.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs contended that Munoz negligently operated his vehicle and that LADPW was negligent in entrusting the vehicle to him.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The County of Los Angeles denied plaintiffs' allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses.
Result
Plaintiffs settled with the county for $28,500.
