On Oct. 17, 2005, Abigail Espinoza was shopping at a Costco Wholesale Corporation location at 2901 Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles when she slipped on mashed potatoes in an aisle and fell. She sued Costco for negligence.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Espinoza alleged that Costco failed to clean up the mashed potatoes and as a result, she fell and was injured.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Costco disputed the nature and extent of Espinoza's injuries and denied that they were liable.
