Facts

The City of Fresno filed suit against Madera County, seeking to stop a proposed mega-development along Highway 41 in Madera. Fresno officials opposed the project due to the costs associated with new development.

Result

The parties settled, allowing the developer to move forward with the project. In exchange, the developer will pay a fee of $1,600 per each single-family home for the first on thousand single-family homes constructed in the Tesoro project, up to $1.6 million. Fifty percent of the total amount of the payments will be earmarked for the development of regional trails and parks. The City of Fresno and County of Madera agreed to enter into regional planning discussions.
