Facts

On May 12, 2011, Katherine Rutledge was struck head-on by a vehicle operated by Tara Schmidt. Schmidt was coming off an off-ramp when her slipper got stuck under the accelerator, and her vehicle entered an intersection against a red light and went over a center divider to strike Rutledge's vehicle.

Rutledge sued Schmidt, alleging that she was negligent in the operation of her vehicle.

Schmidt conceded liability.

Injuries

Rutledge claimed strains to her neck and back, which were treated with medication and physical therapy.

Result

Rutledge was awarded $38,840.94.
