Facts

Bulmaro Martinez-Sanchez filed a class action against Savon Financial Inc. and Sonora Auto Sales Inc., pursuant to California's Rees-Levering Automobile Sales Finance Act.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant Savon allegedly issued statutorily mandated post-repossession notices to plaintiff and others similarly situated for the repossession of their vehicles. The notices, however, failed to comply with the Act in various respects. Consequently, defendants could not collect any deficiency.

Result

The parties reached a settlement, which provided relinquishment of about $1.3 million in debt and a refund of about $87,397 from the money collected.
