Lorenzo Barrera filed a class action against Sodexo Inc., and SDH Services West LLC for alleged wage and hour disputes.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff filed this lawsuit on behalf of employees employed by defendants in non-exempt public housekeeping roles or similar positions. Plaintiff asserted claims for failure to accurately calculate and pay regular and overtime wages, failure to provide meal periods, failure to provide rest periods, failure to comply with accurate itemized wage statements, unfair competition, and violations of the California Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Defendants denied the allegations, and asserted various affirmative defenses.
Result
The parties reached a $600,000 settlement. As part of the settlement, defendants also agreed to pay $7,500 to the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. Defendants also agreed to pay $5,000 to Barrera, $200,000 in attorney fees, $18,628 in attorney costs, and $45,343 in administrative costs band expenses.
