Facts

Defendant Double Honor Insurance Services is an insurance company that serves the insurance needs of churches and faith-based ministries. Plaintiff Rebecca Hope Willis was terminated from her employment with Defendant because of her poor attitude and belligerence toward some employees and principals of the company.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that she was terminated in retaliation for reporting other employees' concerns regarding religious discrimination and harassment in the workplace. She claimed that she reported that some employees felt harassed by the occasional Christian music and occasional prayers in the workplace. She claimed she was engaging in protected activity when she told management that some employees were concerned that a company intending to sublet space from Defendant would bring an overly religious atmosphere into the office.

DEFENDANT CONTENTIONS:
Defendant denied that Plaintiff reported any concerns regarding religious harassment or discrimination, and denied that the termination was retaliatory. The Christian music played over the intercom a few times while office staff was trying to find a satellite radio station that pleased most employees. Some people said they did not like that particular genre of music, and it was changed immediately. Plaintiff never reported any concerns of religious discrimination or harassment.

Damages

Plaintiff claimed loss of earnings and emotional distress damages.
