Facts

Plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against UMB Bank and its affiliated entities alleging that Plaintiff and other UMB customers who were residents of Missouri were charged overdraft fees because of UMB's unfair and deceptive overdraft fee practices. The lawsuit claimed that UMB didn't process transactions in the order that they were made. As a result, the number of overdraft fees charged to certain accounts increased. The lawsuit alleged that these practices violated Missouri's consumer protection law and UMB's contracts with its customers.

Defendants denied all the claims in the lawsuit and denied any wrongdoing.

Result

The case settled for $7,800,000.
