Facts

George Usher was traveling on Newhall road in Santa Clarita when he was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Larry Nance. Usher sued Nance, alleging that Nance was negligent in the operation of his vehicle by being inattentive.

Nance admitted liability.

Damages

Usher sought $11,070 for past medical costs and $15,000 for his pain and suffering.

Injuries

Usher claimed soft-tissue strains and sprains to his lower back and underwent treatment with a chiropractor for about six months. He also received acupuncture therapy.

Result

The jury awarded the plaintiff $8,610.
