Facts

On June 6, 2005, plaintiff Stephanie Odeh, restaurant server and artist, was rear-ended by defendant Helen Jensen. The incident occurred at the intersection of Mendocino Avenue and Bicentennial Way in Santa Rosa. The impact of the collision pushed Odeh's car into the vehicle in front of her. Odeh's vehicle was totaled.

The defendant admitted to liability. The trial dealt solely with the issue of damages.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
As a result of the accident, plaintiff claimed that her injuries were severe and permanent, that she continues to have difficulties opening wine bottles at work and cannot hike or practice yoga.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant's expert orthopedic surgeon contended that Odeh's injuries were caused by previous accidents and her muscle strains were "minor."
