Facts

Plaintiff Connie Arnold was a physically disabled woman who required a wheelchair for mobility. She made reservations at the Renaissance Hotel in Agoura Hills in September 2008 so she could attend her 30th high school reunion. She brought suit against defendants Renaissance Agoura Hills Hotel, Renaissance Hotel Management Co. LLC, Renaissance Hotel Operating Co., and RBD Hotels Agoura Hills LLC.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Arnold contended that guestrooms which were wheelchair accessible failed to include important features, such as guest parking and pool access.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants disputed liability, injuries, and damages as well as the nature and extent of attorney's fees claimed.

Damages

Arnold sought damages and injunctive relief, requiring the hotel to renovate for accessibility.

Injuries

Arnold claimed emotional distress.

Result

The parties settled for $147,000.
