Facts

An employee class action was filed against the bakery-cafe chain, Panera LLC, for allegedly failing to pay overtime and provide meal and rest breaks at some company or franchised stores in the state. The complaint further alleged violations of the California Labor Code, in addition to those mentioned above, for failing to pay employees upon termination. Plaintiffs also alleged a violation of California's Unfair Competition Law.

Result

Panera denied any wrongdoing. It agreed to pay $5 million to settle the matter.
