Facts

Jaime Coronado was terminated from his position as an air ramp supervisor with United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) in February 2008 after an incident involving one of his subordinate employees.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Coronado filed suit against UPS, alleging retaliation and wrongful termination in violation of public policy. He contended that he was retaliated against after reporting safety violations.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
UPS contended that Coronado was terminated after he failed to address concerns that an hourly employee presented to him regarding a chemical dripping from an airplane.

Damages

Coronado sought $400,000 in damages for past and future lost earnings as well as punitive damages.

Result

The jury rendered a verdict for the defense.
