Plaintiff Kari Druyen filed suit against Christine Chen and Helen Chen, in connection with a rear-end collision.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
On Feb. 29, 2012 at 5:30 p.m., plaintiff contended she was driving her 2011 Toyota Prius southbound on the 405 Freeway at the intersection with the 10 Freeway when her Prius began to experience mechanical difficulty. Plaintiff pulled over to the median and turned her hazards on. After plaintiff listened and assessed her Toyota, she decided she could proceed back onto the highway when was she rear-ended by defendant Christine Chen who was driving a 2006 BMV M6, which is owned by Helen Chen.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Chen contended that plaintiff's injuries were pre-existing degeneration changes and were not caused by the accident.
Settlement Discussions
On Feb. 20, 2015, plaintiff served a CCP 998 Offer to Compromise to Christine Chen for $1 million. In or about April 2015, Christine Chen accepted plaintiff's offer.

Injuries
Plaintiff claimed she sustained a 1-2 millimeter at C4-5, 2-3 millimeter disc bulge at the C5-6, and a 2-3 millimeter disc bulge at C6-7. Plaintiff underwent treatment with a chiropractor, had two cervical epidurals and had an anterior 2 level fusion in 2014, two years after the crash.
Result
The case settled for $1 million.
