PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Cynthia Little, 65, was stopped for a traffic light at Laguna Blvd.'s intersection with Harbour Point Dr. in Sacramento when she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by defendant. She was injured as a result and sued defendant for negligence.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant disputed the extent of plaintiff's claimed injuries and damages.

Little sought $36,521 in medical expenses; $12,889 in past lost earnings; $111,000 for past pain and suffering; and $213,000 for future pain and suffering.

Injuries

Cynthia claimed injury her neck and back. She was treated with chiropractic care, and through UCD Medical Center, physical therapy, and multiple trigger point injections. Dr. Santi Rao attributed on-going mid-back pain to referred pain from the thoracic spine. She received various anesthetic shots to her joints to help relieve the pain.

Result

The jury found in Cynthia Little's favor and awarded her $15,114 in damages, including $12,114 in past medical expenses and $3,000 in past pain and suffering.
