Facts

In May 2011, Plaintiffs' 20-month-old daughter was found dead with her bedroom dresser on top of her. The dresser was a Million Dollar Baby "Emily" model four-drawer dresser.

Plaintiffs contended the dresser was defective and Defendant disputed liability.

Settlement Discussions

Plaintiffs made CCP 998 demand totaling $998,000.

Result

The parties settled for $1 million.

Other Information

On Jan. 30, 2013, the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of 18,000 units of the Million Dollar Baby dresser.
