Facts

In 2007, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback, Adam "Pacman" Jones, and several others were ejected from a Las Vegas strip club when a lone gunman began shooting. The gunman claimed he was doing Jones' bidding and later demanded $10,000 from Jones for services rendered. Jones denied responsibility for the shooting.

Plaintiffs alleged that Jones incited a fight and that Jones met briefly with the accused shooter before the shooter opened fire. Jones later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct.

The gunman hit Tommy Urbanski, the club's manager. He was left paralyzed from the waist down. Aaron Cudworth, a bouncer, was also struck and wounded. Urbanski sued Jones for damages. His wife also filed a claim for loss of consortium.

Injuries

Urbanski's bones were shattered and he was left paralyzed. Cudwoth, who was shot in the chest and arm, and continues to grapple with constant pain.

Result

Jones was ordered to pay $11 million in damages to Urbanski and Cudworth. Cudworth was awarded $1.3 million of the total award, including $300,000 in punitive damages. Defaults were entered against several non-appearing defendants.
