Facts
CS-Crossroads, LLC renovated and converted the Crossroads Apartments into condominiums from 2004 to 2006. The condominiums were built on a hillside with crawl spaces under the uphill side of the buildings.
Plaintiff' experts discovered that the crawl spaces were not properly waterproofed which resulted in numerous problems.
These problems included, but were not limited to rotting plywood under walkways, water intrusion into units, pipe leaks and poor ventilation.
In addition, plaintiffs' experts discovered that the retrofitted windows were leaking and that prior repairs to the outside decks had been performed improperly.
Defendants denied all liability for defects.
Result
After multiple mediations and depositions, the case settled for $2,395,000.
