Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that on June 2, 2012, she was a pedestrian on a sidewalk in Los Angeles, when a 3-foot piece of cornice plummeted from an adjacent building and struck her arm. She argued that the object fell from a building owned by Roosevelt Lofts, managed by Milbank Association, and developed by Greystar. She argued that the building was being renovated at the time and that the defendants created a dangerous condition.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Roosevelt disagreed with plaintiff as to the scope of plaintiff's injuries.
Damages
Plaintiff wanted $7,500 in past medical expenses, and pain and suffering damages.
Injuries
Velasquez suffered abrasions, debridement, a decreased range of motion in her arm, hematoma, a 10-inch laceration, scarring and disfigurement of her arm and sutures.
Result
Velasquez received $358,000 from Roosevelt in a settlement.
