Facts
In a consolidated putative class action, consumers who purchased certain Electrolux, Frigidaire, and Crosley branded refrigerator-freezer units sued Electrolux Home Products Inc. relating to the units' icemaker component. Plaintiffs brought claims under various state consumer protection statutes as well as state and federal warranty law.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs contended that most French Door Bottom Mount refrigerators containing Gen 1 Ice Maker modules made no ice at all or repeatedly leaked due to the malfunctioning icemakers. Furthermore, they contended that they were denied a good faith or effective repair.
Result
Pursuant to a preliminarily approved settlement agreement reached between the parties, eligible class members will receive a cash benefit of $100. In addition, class members may also receive a $100 rebate towards the purchase of a qualifying appliance, as well as reimbursement of certain out of pocket repair costs.
