Facts
On May 11, 2006, 18-month-old plaintiff was taken to Roe Health System and Roe Burn Center to undergo a non-emergent elective skin graft. Prior to the surgery, Roe anesthesiologist tried to anesthetize the boy with an intubation process using a Shikani stylette. Roe Physician allegedly cut the plaintiff's trachea and injected air pressure. This caused insufflation of air outside the trachea. Doe Minor sustained a bilateral pneumothorax, cardiac arrest, ischemic anoxic encephalopathy, and permanent brain damage.
Injuries
Doe Minor suffered bilateral pneumothorax, cardiac arrest, and brain injury.
Result
Doe Minor settled with Roe Physician for $875,000. Defendant Roe Health System was dismissed.
