Facts
On April 29, 1993, plaintiff Bruce Massey, a 38-year-old machine operator was cleaning a paper slitter manufactured by defendant Kampf Machinery Corp. with a rag. The rag became caught in the pater slitter's rollers and his hand and entire arm were pulled in with it. Medics were summoned and it took them 20 minutes to extricate the plaintiff's arm from the press. The plaintiff claimed the machine's design was faulty in that there was no cover or guards over the rollers. The plaintiffs, husband and wife, brought this action against the defendant based on strict liability and negligence theories of recovery.
