Facts

Andrew Bell filed a class action against Delta Air Lines Inc. on behalf of 1,138 "Ready Reserve" Delta employees in California.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff alleged that he worked as a Ready Reserve employee for Delta. Plaintiff accused defendant of violating the labor laws by failing to pay overtime wages to its Ready Reserve employees when it did not pay them wages for the off-the-clock work. Plaintiff also accused defendant of not allowing Ready Reserve employees to take meal or rest breaks or provide them wages in a timely manner. Defendant also did not provide them with accurate wage statements in violation of the law.

Plaintiff asserted causes of action for failure to pay overtime wages, failure to pay wages for hours worked, failure to provide required meal periods, failure to provide required rest periods, failure to provide accurate wage statements, waiting time penalties, violations of the Unfair Competition Law, and violations of the Private Attorneys General Act.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant denied plaintiff's allegations, and asserted various affirmative defenses.

Result

Delta agreed to settle the matter for $1,415,000.
