Facts

Kenneth Dent sued Marin Cleaners and Robert Brigham, in connection with an incident that occurred on Sept. 1, 2010.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff was involved in a motor vehicle accident with defendants. Plaintiffs argued that defendants were responsible for causing the accident, and liable for his injuries.

Result

The jury found defendants negligent, and that its negligence was a substantial factor in causing Dent's injury. It awarded Dent a total of $1,100,007, which included $31,146 in past medical expenses, $185,251 in past lost earnings, $397,722 in future lost earnings, and $485,888 in non-economic damages. However, the jury also found that plaintiff and his employer were at fault. The jury attributed 67 percent of fault to defendants Marin Cleaners and Brigham, 1 percent to Dent, and 32 percent of fault to Dent's employer, Ghilotti Brothers, reducing plaintiff's award to $737,005.
